  1. Got 2 of these from tackle warehouse, & i think they have a winner. It works much better than the 90. Its shorter than the 90 but much fatter. I put bigger hooks on mine & it still floats & comes thru the water good. Had several blow ups & caught a 3lber on the first trip with it. Hook up ratio wasn't good, it seemed like the couldn't suck it down from behind. I will have to experiment with it some more, but it gets the bites fo sho!
  2. The bps 100mph is awesome for cold weather. It will keep you dry in warm weather too, but you'll be sweating on the inside. I have a walls 10x light jacket that was great about 10 yrs ago, but after being worn & washed for that long, its not waterproof anymore. But i would recommend it if you can find it. Not sure they still make it. Got mine at hammers for $20.
  3. I throw a 10 power worm & zoom ol monster alot. This thing is quite a bit larger than that. A power worm is flat on 2 sides, its wide but not thick. I use a 5/0 for the power worm with no problem. I ordered some 7/0 gamakatsu hybrid g finesse worm hooks, we'll see how it goes.
  4. I found a good deal on ebay for the plum 10" bull worm. $7.30 for 2 packs. Country Sportsman has them. That being said, i ordered some last week & got them yesterday. Damn these things are HUGE. I throw a big worm alot, but these things are waaay bigger than anything else i use. Gonna have to get some hooks to go with them. What size is recommend for these beasts? Im thinking a 7/0 ewg (which i hate) or more.

    Tokyo rig???

You can drag it, swim it or stroke it. I use a 3/8 oz drop shot weight in spring during the shad spawn. Sometimes stroking a swimbait ( big bite 4" cane thumper)on this rig at night is lights out.
  6. I use p-line C21 clear copolymer for almost everything. Its cheap, very strong & fairly abraision resistant. Tackle warehouse has bulk spools of 750 to 900yds for 7.99 to 8.99. Can't beat it. A 300yd spool is $4.99 most places. Only thing i don't use it for is topwater & heavy duty flipping. I do use the 20lb for flipping in clear water tho. Been using it for 5+ yrs with no complaints.
  7. Dude, fish the eddys with a med size swimbait ( keitech 3.3 or 3.8) on a 1/4 or 3/8 oz head. Get downstream of the eddy, & cast across it. Let your bait sweep downstream, & keep it off the bottom. The fish will lay in the seam between the fast water & the slack water. They will dart out & grab stuff being swept by. Keep your line tight, but don't reel it too much, just let it ride. I've caught some nice fish below douglas like this.
  8. Ok. After using this thing a couple times, i have found 2 things, it hangs up WAAAYYY too much on the open hook head.2, Its hard to rig right. But, i found a way to rig it easy. I noticed it had a built in hole in the head, but it wasn't deep enough for the screw lock. So i took a nail (standard framing nail, 16 p?) heated it with a lighter & inserted it a bit farther in & melted a bigger pocket. Works like a charm. Get it rigged up straight, pull it down a bit, put a bit of super glue on & its ready to go. But since it hangs so much, i just started texas rigging it, on a 1/0 hook with an 1/8 oz tungsten weight. Works much better for me, doesn't hang nearly as much & still catches fish. Now its time to experiment with it. Split shot rig, drop shot, ect.

    Tokyo rig???

2 Split rings & a tungsten drop shot weight is what ive used. Put both rings on the hook, put the weight on one & tie your line to the other. Gives it more movement with 2 rings. Works good with a swimbait or a fluke. Its called a jika rig.
  10. I got 2 packs of the max scent 4.5" "hit worms". 1st 3 casts, 2 smallmouth & a missed bite. They were just little fellas, but they chomped it hard & took off with it. Thanks, Airborne, i knew i could count on you. Lol.😛. Steve, i have developed my own scent concoction that they either eat, or die from smelling, lol. Its berkleys gulp shrimp marinade, liquid mayhem, & pro cure garlic crayfish & bang anise oil all mixed together. I put it in a small spray bottle, and you better make dam sure you don't spray it into the wind. The first time i used it, i laid the bait on the trunk of my old beater car & sprayed it on. 5 mins later (after catching 32 fish and losing my bait) i went back to the car to get re-rigged & saw that it had eaten the paint off to the bare metal. Its been almost 2 years now, and i still can't drive that car......😁
  11. I will throw anything, from a 3" worm to a 9" swimbait. I try it all.😀
  12. I ordered 2 packs of the big turds & 2 packs of the ned heads in 1/4 & 3/8 oz. The heads have a screwlock keeper built in & a sickle style hook. First one i tried went on pretty straight but won't pull all the way up, so its gonna get the gloo. Im assuming you fish this thing like a shaky head, so what makes it so good?
  13. I tried the gulp minnows. Couldn't get a bite damiki rigging or drop shotting them. Changed baits to a yamamoto shad shape worm or armor shad & get bit. I also tried it on a float & fly on a 1/8 jighead & got nothin. Its fine by me tho, i don't have to get that crap on my hands. It smells like wolf vomit. Lol.
  14. Anybody use this stuff? I saw alot of the pros at the last bassmaster event were drop shotting with the small worm. I'm very fond of the old powerbait worms, but never got into the gulp stuff much.
  15. You can't beat the bass pro crankin stick imo. I have 2, a 7'6" med hvy fast that i throw 6XD's & stuff on & a 7' med that i use for smaller stuff. I only throw crankbaits on these 2 rods. I use other rods with less tip for buzzbaits, spinnerbaits & swimbaits. I use a 5:1-1 lews bb1 for deep stuff & a lews tx pro in 6.3-1 for the other.
  16. I refuse to fish with something called a turd. Lol.

    Rusty hooks

You can get mustad kvd triple grip hooks fairly cheap on ebay. These aren't the ultra points, but they are pretty dang sharp. They have short & regular shank. I recommend the 2 x short 1 x strong ewg for cranks. Look up bellator tackle store on ebay. They have 20 to 25 packs for $5 to $8 depending on size. I just looked them up & they have 25 #6 for $3.90.
  18. Light wire hook, med size split shot. 6lb line, minnows. Try to find brush in the 20 to 40' range. Crappie are up biters, so if you mark them at 25', drop your bait to 20 or so, because they usually won't go down to get it, but they will come up. Watch your line close, crappie will often bite & sit still & the only thing you will see is slight slack in the line. Don't waste too much time in one spot, if you don't get bit in 15 or 20 mins, move on.

I haven't had any problems with P-line. But i use the cheap stuff (C-21 $5- $6 a 300yd spool ). Its a copolymer line, is very strong, fairly abrasion resistant & clear. Doesn't have a bad memory ( works ok on spinning reels) that i have seen. I use a ton of line on my cranking rods, so it would be expensive for me to use $10 a spool line, not to mention $20 floro. I use 10lb for crankin, 15 for jigs/worms & 20 for flippin. Have had very little break offs that weren't my fault.

    Jig pouring

Not trying to take business away from anybody, but ebay is the place to get jig, spinnerbait & buzzbait stuff. If you aren't in a hurry, you can usually surf around on there thru the week & find smokin deals. But it takes time. Last month i found a place that had gamakatsu hooks, 5 packs of 5 for 5.99, free shipping. They also had a couple of different sizes of the bulk packs of 25. 2 packs for 11 bucks, free ship. Can't beat it.

I agree with everything you said, but i will add some to it. Chartreuse is a good color in any water color or clarity. Don't just use deep crankbaits for deep cranking. I will throw a 6XD in 5' or less. It makes them run very erratic & stir up a bunch of junk. They also deflect esp well in shallower water. Both of which can get a ton of bites.
  22. That's waaayyyy more information than i needed. And now we all know where your nickname comes from. Sorry, but you walked right into that one, lol. I'd say you feel much better now tho, since you are officially "out of the closet". Lmao.
  23. Has anybody got into these things yet? Its an old school striper/saltwater topwater lure that has been downsized a bit for bass. It has a different action to it than a spook or popper type bait. It pivots more on its tail & the cupped mouth spits a good amount of water. I bought several of them to try out over the winter. Im just now starting to use them & already catching fish. I like the ima little stik 135 & the evergreen shower blows 125 alot. The evergreen is tough to find in very many colors, but the emerald shiner isn't bad & thats what most people still have. Give them a try, they have a different look & seem to work well.

I use the cheap pline copolymer. Its 5 bucks for a 300yd spool. Its strong & fairly abrasion resistant. But i go thru alot of line cranking. I retie every 10 or so casts whether it needs it, or knot, and definitely after every fish or hang up.
