Hey guys, I've been signed up to the this site for a few years but never posted. I've been hunting and fishing Beech Creek for 35 plus years, it's one of my favorite places with lots of great memories from my youth. I don't think I've ever fish it in April, normally wait until May and I was wondering how it fished in April. I assume like Cherokee, the smallies are getting ready to spawn? Is it better up around the island for smallmouth spawners or does it matter? Also, has anyone tried throwing a devils horse around the grass for LM spawners? I know that's a Florida thing but figured it would work on Beech Creek. I think I'll give it a try this year and see. Cherokee is packed this weekend with the BASS Open so I was thinking about heading up to Beech Creek and give it a try. I can't wait until next month when the big girls get in the grass chasing frogs.
I think I'll head up and give it a try either Sat or Sun, appreciate any suggestions on baits for this time of year. I was thinking a wacky rigged senko, swim jig, or spinnerbait.
This is one I caught up there a couple years ago on a frog, there's nothing like it.
