One thing that would've made the weekend better  - FAU losing to AFA.  The cadets kept it close, maybe too close.

I'm also partial to a good Irish (never developed a taste for Scotch).  I'll have some samples with me when I'm down next month.

Life has been good indeed, Mr Walsh.

So, I see you like cigars and bourbon.  We def need to link up.  Rocky Patel and corn go very nicely together.

Land Big Fish has them now.  Little better selection of colors than other outlets.  Oddly, nothing on TW about them yet.

So, I ordered a couple of these.  I'm a big fan of the SK squarebill baits.  Something that behaves like a squarebill and goes deeper can only be good.  Same SK finishes, hooks.  Bill is an extended version of what you usually see on a 1.5.  Can't wait to throw them.  Should be killer on steeper banks, bluffs, rocks, and brush piles.

Oh, yeah.  Ol' Airborne's music collection is of the eclectic variety.  McMurty, REK, Lyle Lovett, all them off-the-beaten-path story-tellers.

  12. this is the sentence that never ends yes it goes on and on my friends somebody started typing it not knowing what it was and theyll continue typing it forever just because this is the sentence that never ends.......punctuation folks, punctuation. Helps distinguish a sentence, paragraph, or story, from gibberish, and keeps me from popping Advil all day.

Fortunately I don't work with anyone who writes like this but there is a buttload (official military logistics term for a lot) of people who talk like this.  On and on and on . . .  I run out of ears before they run out of mouth.  I once told a dood to stop and take a breath.  I was afraid he'd turn blue and pass out.  He didn't get it.  He prob never will.

LMAO!  So, yesterday AM it was 65* when I went outside (about 0600).  Today it was 41*.  The 15 kt wind made it feel like 31*.  And we wonder why we get sick this time of year . . .

Don't like the weather?  Wait 5 mins.

Airborne still has his 100 mph suit on board.

  15. Just read an interesting comment from a woman in Florida who asks why the 2nd Amendment hasn't been repealed in light of recent mass killings.  Guns, in her mind, are causing all of these tragedies.  Eliminate the guns and you eliminate the problem.  She didn't mention anything about knives, explosive booby traps, landmines, or poisons . . .

I wonder if she'll do the natural follow-up and demand cars be declared illegal.  After all, drunk and inattentive drivers kill more people than shooters do.  We should hold car manufacturers accountable for their blatant disregard for human life.  And what about alcohol?  It was outlawed once, you know.  Why isn't alcohol being declared illegal again in light of so many people dying of addiction related conditions?  Damn booze makers - we should jail them all.  It's their fault.

And then there are the drug makers.  Drugs are already illegal (for the most part) yet we don't go after drug makers like the public is going after gun manufacturers right now.  It is, after all, their fault people are becoming addicted.  The doctors who prescribe them are complicit, too.  So are the nurses, PAs, and rehab staff.  Jail all of them while we're at it.

Franklin Graham - Billy's son - had an interesting comment on this horrific event.  His observation was nowhere in the discussion is the role of evil thought or impetus.  While we charge off into the sunset looking to blame someone or something for all of this needless suffering we run right past the cause of it all - Satan.  And while we scurry about dodging and attributing blame Satan just smiles.

UPDATE:  Just got a text from Doug's daughter.  He is in surgery now.

A bit more:  he had another episode (think that means minor cardiac event) about an hour or so ago.  He's having a ruff day between this and the event Karma told us about earlier.

  19. Things I've learned from our left-hand brothers & sisters in the wake of the Vegas shooting:

    1) Guns are magical creatures capable of acting on their own to inflict harm on people.

    2) 40+ guns are considered an arsenal. This includes handguns, long guns, shotguns and the dreaded "assault rifle" which, of all the gun types, is the most likely to act on its own accord.

    3) The statistics that show the cities in our country with the strictest gun laws also have the highest gun violence rates, are made up by the NRA.

    4) The tragedy in Vegas somehow is related to pending legislation on suppressors(NOT silencers....there is a difference, educate yourself before you speak as an "expert"). Although I've yet to see the connection.

    5) Somehow, knowing everything about a shooter's past and guessing why they might have committed these horrible acts of cowardice is acceptable news feed. No longer do we just need to know the facts, every Tom, Dick & Jane's opinion on why is necessary as well.

    1. 31Airborne

      31Airborne

This was great.  Facts never seem to matter to those who lean hard to one side or the other.  In those cases, listening (to hear) is an acquired skill (and neither side has it).

The commentary by a former presidential candidate on silencers was about as relevant as a screen door on a submarine.  She really showed her azz on that one.

Opinions, I once heard, are like rear ends.  Some smell better than others.

what a tragic loss.  one of the all-time greats.  there will always be a sound and a rhythm that is uniquely Petty.  from Mudcrutch to the Heartbreakers to solo to the Traveling Wilburies back to the Heartbreakers.  the man rocked until he dropped - for almost 50 years.

Well, at least you lost to an FBS school.  We, on the other hand, lost to an FCS school not too far removed from being D2.  Someone in Baton Rouge started a go fund me page to buy out Orgeron's contract late SAT nite.  It has $140K in it already.

Just looked at the long-range wx outlook.  Looks like a cold front will shove its way down this way early next week.  Lows in the mid-50s, highs in the mid-70s.  Dew points are projected to be in the 50s.  Be still my beating heart but is fall coming a lil early this year?

It's ALWAYS OK to look forward to Friday.  It's even better to call in sick on WED and make it a 4-day weekend.
