Guest
in another thread we are discussing the Bomber Red Eye Long A vs the Yellow Eye Long A and saying the yellow eye being the better of the 2 for catching fish and also discussed the buoyancy of the 2 and determined the yellow eye being the more buoyant than the red eye ...i was wondering if anyone has made the same test to compare the Rebel Pop-R Bone Colored Yellow Eyed verses the Pop-R Red Eyed....i prefer the Tn Shad in yellow eye but never thought about the Bone ....like in the Long A...... Fence Post
I know this is only an answer to part of your question,but............I've never seen a "bone" colored store bought lure (cream is their interpretation). I prefer to create my own,in any topwater application. Seems the fish prefer them.

brownfish03
Heres a trick.....take your red eyed Long A and sand the body down. This does 2 things...it reduces weight and decreases drag by making the lure have a very smooth surface. Also, I remove the middle trebble, put a red one up front and a tripple grip on the back. Next, take off the split ring and fish the bait with a loop knot. This takes out more weight and really makes that sucker wobble. Try this and forget about the yellow eyes... brownfish03
One more thing....any colored Long A will be "bone" underneath....so, if you have a "clown" yellow eyed long A, just sand the paint off and *poof*....you are now the proud owner of a bone, yellow eyed long A. LGM
As far as which pop r floats the best I can't say. My brother fished a g-finish white pop-r until all the color came off, It was then bone color without eyes. He caught more fish on it without the eyes than before. He replaced the hooks several times, fished with that thing for about ten years and finally lost last year to a giant largemouth. It was the bigger size but not quite as big as the p-70. The original white g-finish is discontinued in that size. We have found a couple on e-bay but they go for more money than he wants to put in it. The last one I tried to get for him, I bid forty dollars and still didn't get it.
DMac
I like my pop-r to sit tail down and barley floating. But love them Rico's to fish fast.
