To Braid or not to Braid....

guys was wondering if its a good idea to use Braided Line when throwing Buzzbait? as well as when throwing any type of topwater lure.....

I'm not a fan of braid on any topwater unless it's a frog. I feel like I want to have a little give with it because I want that fish to be able to take the buzzer or spook, or whatever the case is. With braid on a topwater you're too apt to take the lure away from the fish before they get it good.

No snoot, don't do it. Personally the only thing I would even consider using braid for is flipping/pitching. A lot of people swear by it but I can't stand the stuff myself.

Also, for myself when I am fishing topwater or any other lure with treble hooks, I like some stretch in my line so that the fish has a harder time "ripping/tearing" out the smaller trebles that in most cases do not penetrate through the mouth and out the other side. Hope this helps.

The only way I fish a buzzbait is with braid. I mainly fish rivers with lots of current. With boat positioning, you are at the mercy of the current. Therefore I have to make extremely long casts many times to target preferred areas. I like the no stretch for solid hooksets. Also on these long casts, your line between rod tip and bait will make contact with the water. With the current, This causes a big bow in my line requiring me to take up lots of line on the hookset. With making long cast and having to take up lots of line on the hookset, mono stretches WAY too much for me.
