alumacraft09
Hey a friend of mine has a 166 chetah bass boat with a 88 evinrude with pt trim . You take off with motor all the way down and it starts to get on plane when you start raising the motor up it starts to porpas REALLY BAD and will not stop the faster you go the higher it goes and more violent ,I have been driving bass boats for 20 yrs I have never seen any thing like it . I can drive the boat and put him in the front on the floor and it will settle down some what but the motor is all the way down and the faster you go it will almost throw him in the air . I dont think a hydro fin will help very much Its like they are to much weight in the back but it has just has 2 batteries and gas tank. Does any one have any ideas what would cause this Thanks
BassinHomer
I'm by no means an expert but maybe he needs a jackplate and needs to lower the actual motor down more on the boat, whats HP is it rated for, it might not have enough weight to keep it stable. JIGSTICK
A set back will make it worse. A hydrofoil may totally fix it, a 4 blade prop may help, also try setting the mounting bracket in the middle holes and go up or down from there. I'd say it needs to come up. Also look to make sure the motor is mounted level left to right.
Charger
A foil will help, but you need more "down trim" . Just ask Stump
