Hey guys have any of y'all used braided line for a leader on your carolina rigs. Does it affect the action of the bait because when fishing the other night I was fishing the same length leader, the same bait, and the same hook. The only thing different that I was using was a weight that was an 1/8 of an ounce larger and braid for a leader..... Any of you guys care to put in you :2cents: ..

Personally, I dont like braid on a c-rig, esp not for leader. I tried braid for a main line one time and I didnt care for it. I can se the benefit of the toughness of braid in that application, and thats why I tried it. I prefer a mono main line and flouro leader.

I use strait up mono on both main line and leader. Different pound test for main line and leader of course. Depending on if you want your bait to suspend better or not you could switch back to flouro because it sinks and mono floats. It's time for the c-rig now! It's a fish catching setup up but it will also make you want to pull all your hair out, especially if you throw it on Boone! If you can keep from staying hung up you will catch some GOOD fish on it !

I use 17 flouro on my main line and smaller mono on my leader. I don't think i would use braid because if you hang that sinker in deep water you are screwed.

I use 17 lb mono for my main line because of night fishing purposes but I just tied on braid fo the leader the other day cause its what I had I did catch one on it today though. I quit using braid as a main line because of that purpose, there is no need of turning the boat over trying to break your line. I was just trying the braid as a leader because you can get so small of a diameter with it.
