blind hawg
You have a few options , if it's a spinning reel you can close the bail by hand not the handel , if you are in a boat remove the lure and let a little more than a cast of line and reel back in between thumb and finger with a little tension on the line or you can use the current of a river to do the same but the best bet is a swivel . If you are at home you can tie the line to a tree with a swivel bout 6to 12 " from the tree let out about a cast length of line an reel back in with tension that should keep it from geting worse .

brownfish03
I like to take a newly spooled spinning reel and while idleing out to the lake, let 90% of the line off the reel behind the boat. Then, reel it back in and that baby will be smooth as silk!
bassfishermen423
hum i didnt know that.i never had a problem with it til yesterday i dnt know if maybe it was the spoon or maybe the water generating
bronzebackhuntr
I guarantee it was the spoon. They will spin up line like a tilt a whirl.

bronzebackhuntr
All of the above ways of getting rid of line twist work great. I'm partial to letting the line out behind the boat, you just gotta make sure there aren't any other boats around. Don't wanna spin it up in someone's prop. BassinHomer
You can also take a section of that rubber type kitchen drawer liner, cut it into small square, pull out a length of line, pinch the line between your thumb and forefinger inside the square section holding it just abouve the reel and reel the line in pinching on the square section of material you just cut. That's a trick I learned when I was thinking of getting into fly fishing but it works like a charm.
