country
with so many brands, prices what does everyone like. sometimes you buy a new rod or reel just to find out that it is not really what you wanted or dont like it, I hate to spend money for something and not like it
mwbrand
really like my crucials and they got a over the counter warranty which is really nice. got 2 cumaras that I like and always thought they were great but cant really tell a difference in them and the crucials. Got a revo winch and i'm not a big fan of it bought it to throw deep cranks and still use it bought just bought a curado g5 so will see which one I like better
JoeP
For rods I won't buy anyrhing but Cashion. They are crazy sensitive and extremely strong, my only complaint is that the handle on some models could stand to be a little bit longer. For reels I kind of like the Lew's. About $100 is all I'll spend on a reel and they have one that is $89 to $99 depending on where you buy it. It's a decent reel for the money. I also like the Bass Pro Pro-Qualifier but j get a little more casting distance from the Lew's so I'll probably buy those from now on. basslover79
I have had a crucial for a few yrs. now.. It is a great rod. The bps extreme reels are a very good reel for the money.
GlitterRocket
as far as rods go, you got a ton of options. there are a bunch of great off the self rods out there right now. as well as some awesome custom rods too. and the custom rods may not cost as much as you think they will. like some other guys have said, the crucial is a good, solid rod.....you wont go wrong there. from my exerience( which may not count for much) falcon, kistler, shimano, fenwick, G loomis and all star are all great rods. i think duckett fixed the problem with the line guides they where having. BTW, those are some great feeling rods too. when your in the tackle store, pick up as many rods as you can and see what you like! also fish with as many of your buddy's rods/reels as possible, this is a great way to find out what feels good to you, and what you don't like in a rod/reel, without spending a bunch of money. with casting reels, you don't have quiet as many options. but there again, find what you like before spending your hard earned money. i'm a shimano guy,and am a little bias....... you wont go wrong with a citica, curado or chronach. the abu garcia, revo's are great reels too! and, while i dont own one, every lew's i have fished with felt great. some of the store brand rods/ reels are also very good, just be carefull with those and remember you get what you pay for, especially with store brand reels! good luck, country, and welcome to the site! MtCarmelBugMan
As many of the other guys have said Crucials are hard to beat. They are not overly expensive and no matter how one gets broken a dealer is required to exchange it over the counter with no questions asked. That is pretty awesome to know you have a rod for life. Now as far as reels go I am a die hard Daiwa fan. I use Daiwa zillions because they are small and fit into my hand perfect. I have small hands but I like to palm the reel. The Zillions allow me to do this easily. You also can adjust the casting drag and spool magnets without removing the side plate like some other reels. If you swap weights of lures a lot this makes setting your reel up a lot easier especially in the dark. I have used these for quite some time and have had virtually no problems with them mechanically other than a bearing here and there. They are a bit pricey but very good reels. I have a few of them and love the fact than I know they will work every time I pick one up.
97astro
I've fell in love with lews I have a revo sx and for the price I can almost get two lews. But as for rods I have a couple skeet Reece and they are sensitive but I also love my new veritas and the crucial is a good rod I bought my dad one for Christmas and he loves it. He broke the tip and took it straight to just fishin and they replaced it no questions asked which is a great deal in my opinion.
