tjrifewtbast
While fishing today i seen a line one a tree moving i pulled the line up to see what it was. It was a small catfish My ? is should I have cut the line or is someone just trying to catch catfish to eat I left it alone just wanting to make sure I done the right thing. Probably stupid ? but I like to try to do the right thing
brownfish03
It was somebody "fishing"....awful dang lazy way to fish if you ask me...but, people do it. Leaving it alone was the right choice...they were trying to catch a bigger fish Im sure. I don't have much respect for people who do this b/c of a few times while fishing (once last week on Watauga at night) I was fishing down a bank up to a point, and here comes this boat running up on us to check his stupid limb line. What a jerk, how about waiting until Ive fished around the point before you have to check your jerry rig fishing set up to see if a carp has hooked himself on your junk? 9 times out of 10, they just leave the line hanging in the tree for you to get caught on later down the road....on second thought, you did the wrong thing...lol...shoulda cut that line and let that little feller go! lol
SilverFox
People get pleasure out of this type fishing just as we do when we bass fish. It's perfectly legal as long as they follow the laws. What's not legal is messing with someone's lines set up for fishing. Sure you get some who do it illegally... Just as you get guys who bass fish illegally. JoeP
Last year at PH I saw at least 10 of those lines with dead fish on them. Someone set them and left, they had been there long enough that the fish skeletons with minimal meat where left dangling from the trees. To limb fish legally you have to affix your name and license number to the line. If I see a line with an information tag on it then it's legal and I leave it alone. If there's no tag then I assume it's just lake litter and do my part to clean up the area.

If its not labeled or properly marked, cut the fish loose and tear that crap off the limb.
