eastenfish
A lot of guys are using powell's now. A local bait store I frequent just started carrying them. Are they really good and reliable? Do they have a variety of actions and lengths? How is the price? And are they a light rod?? Thanks in advance. I've never used one or held one. Tracker1861
Dunno, I have never seen one in person before and I don't know of anyone that owns any of them.

lunkerhunter1982
Dwayne, you do know someone that uses them haha. I went to Powell's 3 years ago and that is all I use now, and I bet there have been at least a half dozen folks in my boat that I let use one and they ended up buying one. And no, I don't get paid to endorse them haha. They are lighter and, in my opinion, more comfortable than a Shimano, and I can't tell a real difference in sensitivity between them and my G-Loomis rods. They have great warranties and their customer service is easy to deal with in my opinion. I fish a lot and use my stuff hard, and the only one I have broken was due to a big wave while running. The only other problem I have had is a tip insert came out on another, but one call to Powell ended up with 3 new tips free of charge in the mail. They make an absolute ton of actions and lengths. The best all-around rod I have ever found for numerous applications is their 7'3 medium heavy, and I know of probably 15 guys that bought them for throwing football jigs. . .IMO, they are the best rod for the best price with the best warranty on the market. Jon
I have three and I have had them for over a year. They are light and sensitive as any other rods I have. Some of which retail for twice as much as the Powells, so they are hard to beat for the $$$. I broke one @ G-ville this spring working a jerkbait. I don't know if I slapped the side of the boat or what, but they took care of it without a question. Their warranty replacement is $40.00 and the rod, Loomis is $50, and Dobyns is $20; so it's middle of the pack. I definitely give them a thumbs up! eastenfish
Give me an estimate on how much they are starting out. All of this sounds good. I might have to try and get one in my stocking.

They feel good in the tackle store, but they feel even better when you actually tie something on and start fishing it. . .
