Aug 3rd River Rat Tx

Guys:

 

It has been brought to the tx committee on more than one occasion in the past week or so that the river rat tournament may be adversly affected by the amount of water that TVA is pushing downstream due to the recent major rain events in our area. There are several factors to take into consideration here; first and foremost is the safety of all members participating in the event. If TVA is running the river bank full and it its moving swiftly, it would be treacherous to take a canoe, kayak or jon boat down stream in those conditions. Secondly, is the fishing conditions that the generating and heavy rains have brought to the river system.

So, with that said, you guys are going to vote as to whether to keep things staus quo, or to relocate the event to a more stable environment, like Ft Pat or Steele Creek, for example. Everything else about this tournament stays the same, times, CPR rules, etc. Please only vote if you intend to fish this event and be familiar with the rules and regulations before voting. The poll will run thru this week.

I think river will still be a mess by the 3rd , so we may need to make other plans , or wait it out an make the call closer to the date. I think if its not in the river it should still be none motorized tx like yaks , john boats or wading jmo.

I love the idea of Steele creek, it caters to everyone involved, yakers, bank fishermen, and traditional boaters, and no one is at an advantage because if you at in a bass boat it is trolling motor only.

I wish the river would calm down so we could get the Yaks back down there, but hitting a lake is sounding better to me with the conditions.

There is no admission to Steele Creek anymore. The main gate beside the golf course is open during daylight hours
