trackertxw175
i have a 70 hp johnson 3 carb o/b that sometimes will not take throttle. you can put in neutral and pull warmup lever and it winds up to top rpm. have replaced fuel line and primer bulb from tank to the motor. my mech thinks in tank pick up since it will rev up out of gear. i thought maybe stuck float or choke but that isn't the case either. i may try an external tank since the pick up is so hard to get to. any other ideas would be appreciated. just got back in from cherokee trying new primer bulb, didn't help problem but did catch 1.5 lm on c-rig . had another bite but the sun came out and the bite quit. Charger
Pour some SeaFoam in the tank and idle around for a while. I am guessing theres some gunk in the carbs jets.

Try the simple solutions first. If that dont help, then look to the in-tank p/u.
JeepKuntry
I have a 79 Johnson 75 that does the same thing. I had a guy tell me it I needed new rollers to fix this.
softbaitmaker
My 130 Yamaha was having that same problem last year while up at Douglas. I had three different mechanics check it out and they could not locate the problem. Mine was also hard to start. I began with a few cans of Sea foam and it helped a little but was still far from right. I finally totally emptied my fuel tank by taking fuel hose off at motor and got 2 5 gallon gas cans and hung the fuel line over the back of boat and pumped ball to begin siphoning all the fuel out. I was watch the glass fuel filters and as I got down to about last couple gallons the water, Ethanol and junk began showing up in the filters. I poured some of the good fuel from first can back into tank and me and a few buddies shook the boat on the trailer and I began the siphon process again and again I got trash and ethanol and water out of take into new filters. Did this process three times until barely got anything but gas out of tank. Added 8 ounces of Blue Marine Sta-Bil and went and filled boat up. Problem is gone and I put Blue Marine Sta-Bil in my tank every time I fill the boat. I buy the big bottles of it. I will never run my motor without it again as long as they keep selling this JUNK GAS.................

Well if your boat still starting and running just run the additives. Might be better than the gas they sell these days...........

When you say, "It won't take Throttle" do you mean, it is sluggish when you try to take off and get up on pad? If so, you may want to check your low speed jets.
