maw10
well Momma, i ain't no biologist or rocket surgeon, but in my 62 years of fishing all over this country i've seen lakes be hot, then get cold, then heat up again, and i've often wondered, like you, as to why. some of the "theories" i've come up with are...fishing pressure? i mean....once the word gets out that a certain fishery is "hot", it gets pounded pretty hard, and how many times can wise ol' bass get hooked and released afore he gets smart about what he grabs or don't grab. and with the number of folks out after bass these days....i think the pressure is higher than ever. there are just more fisher folks out there and they're gettin' better at catchin' 'em with all the new techniques and electronics they're using. i believe, and don't get me wrong here, i have nothing against tournement fishing, that there are more pro and am tournaments than ever...including college bass fishing nowadays. by this time of the summer an awful lot of them fish have been caught and released more than once, and mebee they're just gettin' harder to fool. i often wonder too, with the economy the way it is, if there isn't less catch and release and more catch and EAT! maybe more of those fish are getting removed from our lakes and rivers than ever before? also, the economy can affect the fisheries programs. is there less restocking going on because of funding cuts? then there are the enviromental things that can always affect fish populations. weather can cause die-offs, introduction of intrusive species, fish diseases...ect. so to answer your question in a nutshell......who the heck knows!? one, all or none of hte above? Well worded reply Maw10. The amount of boats at ramps have quadrupled on any given day. It is utterly amazing to me!!
