mwbrand
the problem i have is when the bell closes it catches the blue oring . its supposed to slide up that white slide there but for some reason catches that oring and stops everything up. i dont really see what that oring is doing anyway so do you all think it would hurt just to remove the oring
Stump9000
I would help you if I could but I'm like a pig looking at a pocket watch. You can take it off and see what happens.
Mountainman
Just my opinion, for what its worth, if you value your reel, just box it up and send it to Funky and let him clean it and fix it. Theres a whole lot of little bitty parts down in there dude. Like I said, just my opinion.....
bcfishin
I know nothing much about reels, blue orings, or anything else with that small of parts
brwnbass
I would say that the o-ring is most likely a dust ring meant to keep dirt & water out of the insides of the reel. It prob wont hurt anything to take it off, but you'll have to clean the reel alot. I'd have it replaced or order one to replace it with.
trackertxw175
looks like it keeps moisture out, but it may also act to reinforce the white nylon ramp. can't tell for sure from the pic. if you take it out reel easily to make sure the nylon doesn't break or distort. 31Airborne
Send this pic to Jim Funkhouser (Funky) at Dominion Tackle and Reel repair. He'll be able to triage it. He's a board sponsor.
Tubejig
Old Dominion is the way to go. I'd call him and explain the problem and send a pic. He's a good dude and if he can help you fix it , he will. If you send him a reel, you will get it back in "new" condition.
DominionTackle
MW - I can't really tell much from the photo, but I can tell you, you don't want to remove the friction ring. It does two things, keeps a lot of moisture out of the reel and keeps some tension on the rotor, so it doesn't run wild, speed-wise and cause loops in your line. Quite often the ring will dry-rot and either stretch or tear. This causes it to catch on the bail trip arm every revolution. If you want to send it in, check my website and it will give you all the info. Funky Thanks MM, AB & 2B
