mwbrand
It was hanging in a tree at Leadville boat ramp on Douglas
softbaitmaker
My guess would be an Amazon Needle Fish but what is it doing at Lake Douglas hanging in a tree? Is it a real fish or a stuffed one that someone may have caught on a trip to somewhere and hung it up there as a joke?
mwbrand
its real and hanging. We do inspections up in Newport and sometimes drive by Leadville ramp to check it out
mwbrand
old guy at ramp tried to say it was a long nose gar but it looks nothing like one
bronzebackhuntr
It's an Atlantic needlefish. I have caught several in saltwater and they are adaptive to freshwater and I do believe there is a tn state record for one.

The state record was caught in Pickwick Dam tailwater stands at 1.6 ozs. That looks like a new record to me. Do yall guess it was an aquarium release and adapted well to the lake? I have seen them caught on TV with folks fishing the Amazon River.
