Mountainman
I used to be a die hard Abu man. After having several issues with their reels, I have since switched almost all of my reels over to Shimano. Hope you get it straightened out, man. JoeP
I've heard nothing good about the new Revo reels. In fact, I've heard nothing but they're garbage.
country
thanks for the honesty guys, I work for my money, cant stand obama, cant stand for junk either
SilverFox
The Abu Orra is a fine reel. I only have one Revo now but I have about 8 or so Orra reels. I prefer them to the Revo. The Lew's I've fished with have been Junk. Felt like cheap Walmart stuff. It was a speed spool. I used it fishing with a BASS guy before the Open this year. That's my only experience with them. I tried 2 of them he had on the deck. Shimano on the other hand felt good. It was the green reel. Anymore, unless you're just trying to impress someone or fit in, the bass pro shop pro qualifier or the Abu Orra is about the best $100 reel they make in my opinion. I don't need or want a 200-300 dollar reel. I wouldn't have them if I were rich.
JoeP
I'll cast another vote for the BPS pro qualifier. I have 2 of them and they don't cast quite as far as my Lews but they're smooth and reliable.

DominionTackle
Why do you think your reel needs grease & oil constantly? Is it slow? Too much grease and oil can slow a reel down, especially if it's dirty. I will agree that Shimano is the better reel, but Revo's are OK. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is the pawl wear. I definitley wouldn't junk it. Consider sending it to me for service. PS - The Lew's is the same as a Revo inside. The main difference in the two reels are the handle knobs and the price tag. Wiseguy909
I've heard nothing good about the new Revo reels. In fact, I've heard nothing but they're garbage. +1 I've got the generation 2 Revos and I have had a couple of pawls go bad on them and 1 bearing. I still like them them pretty good but, Im gonna start buying the Lews when I have to upgrade. I've got 3 of the new Lews and love them.

GlitterRocket
I've got two revo's one is this years SX, and the other is a premier from a few years ago( 2011, I think). the older one is by far the better reel. your not the first person I've heard say they had trouble with the new one's. the revo is a very popular line of reels, and brought a lot of life back to abu, so I hope they get the problems with them straightened out. you wont go wrong with shimano. citica, curado, & chronarch are all great reels. the citica will probably out cast the other two. the curado is a work horse, and the chronarch is smooth as whipped butter. pflueger has revamped there line of casting reels as well. you may want to check them out too. both the pflugers I have are older, but have been good solid reels. as for the pro qualifier, seems to be a good reel. my dad has one, and hasn't had any issues with it. Triton196
I have several of Revo's SX, Premiere , and MGX. Never had a problem with any of them. What makes you think the reel needs oil and grease constantly?

country
I add oil and grease to smooth it out and yes it needs it! took it to where I bought it and it was bone dry as for sending for repair, it is going back to abu garcia this reel was bought new at the end of may 2013, yet I have an older revo sx and it has never made noises, grind or get rough, this one also has an issue with the thumb bar not engauge

I have had many reels and said I would not pay more than 100 for a baitcaster, but I was getting a lews for 80 and the guy handed me a revo and said give me 40 more so I did it, I just got home from fishing the new revo clicks makes noises and sometimes it dont engage the spool, I have oiled and greased it too much but with paying over 100 for a reel I expect it to perform, and if it dont I will send back or find it a new home, I actually bought a new quantum pt and gutted it in less than 6 months

brwnbass
I beg to differ. Quantum makes the best spinning reel there is. I have 2 lews & 2 johnny morris elites. Love them. I have punished the lews over the last yr & they havnt flinched. Have 1jme that ive had for 10 yrs & is still going strong.
