country
after starting the cb thread I see that alot of guys dont use spinning tackle and thats a preference I guess, but for me I still use them for crappie, throw a t rig worm, small cb (bandit) tube and grub, I do use baitcasters more than a spinning outfit but it seems to cost about double to put together a good quality baitcasting setup, I dont like junk and if I end up buying I wont fish with it, sometimes you just dont know til you fish with it to tell if you like it
lunkerhunter1982
I agree that quality casting equipment can be pricey, but a good casting reel seems to last 2 or 3 times as long as a good spinning reel.
SilverFox
A quality spinning reel will last a long time. Cleaned a lubed regularly and I'd say they will last as long or longer than a casting reel.

mwbrand
I have 2 symtre on cumara rods I use when throwing shakey head, tight line or any thing small like that would hate to try and fish a shakey or gulp minnow tight lined on a baitcaster. And those 2 reels have been working just fine for 6 years now

brwnbass
I use a spinning rod alot. Carbonlites are tuff to beat imo. I got a dobyns 7' med/hvy fast last summer for shaky heads & for spring time flukes. it is awesome. I got some seagur smackdown 20lb braid & abused it all spring & it has been great. threw the fluke nonstop for about 3 mos & never had a spinning " backlash" with it. & the fluke will twist some line something awful. Didnt use a leader with it & the only prob i had was the knot popping out of the hookeye a few times. So i got some vmc hooks with the resin closed eye & no more popouts.
