mwbrand
Scored me a original P70 on ebay but it needs new hooks. What ya all think hook size wise for best performance in water ?
LGM
Most p 70s came with a size 4 hook. I would go with a no. 4 ewg gama. on the front with a no4 gama. dressed treble on the back.
pccustomtackle
Does the tail weight knock when you shake it ?
flipperjig
i would go with number 2s on front and back..dressed trebble on tha back...most bites are when it hits the water anyways...

lunkerhunter1982
I have one I wouldn't take $1,000 for. It wears a number 2 EWG Gammy on the front and a number 4 dressed round bend Gammy on the back. I couldn't begin to tell you how much money I have won on that thing, nor how many lunker pots. I throw it on 20 lb mono on a 5 foot 10, stiff G-Loomis with the last 6 inches of tip being really fast. Awesome skipping tool, and will outfish any frog ever made. Z-91
From an article on the PAA site by Brandon Coulter. "In terms of lure modifications, there are none. Coulter simply adds a #2 treble to the belly and a #2 feather treble on the tail." Its what I have on mine also.
pccustomtackle
I think they walk better with #4 trebles and not had any hookup issues either. Try both sizes and see which works best for you !!

brownfish03
Sure would like to find that SOB that broke into my truck a few years back.....lost 5 or so original P70's..... still have 5 or so that I'm lucky enough to own! I have to disagree with Flipper on the bites. Yes, alot of times it happens at splash down, but you walk that big boy by the right piece of cover and WHOOOOSSSSSHHHHH! niteblade
I had a plano 360 box full fly out on the way to Douglas about 5 years ago never found them. Some were custom painted by Rex. Very bad day. Had one tied on only one I had left.

niteblade
They make a new run but not same as the old one. Old one cost anywhere from 25 to 50$. New ones about 6 bucks
Peck
What's the difference of the old compared to the remake, other thank the classic they don't make en like the used to line.
niteblade
New one has lighter brass weight they don't stand up right . They want walk in the same place as easy. Old ones have heavyer lead weight u can walk it with out moving it out of the strike zone as fast.
