Wiseguy909
Well I've started getting my rods ready and I was going to get input from you guys on braided lines. I've been using 65 lb power pro and haven't had any issues to speak of but I think I may go with 50 lb braid this year. I mainly just throw the A-rig on braid. Ive talked to several friends and it seems like everybody is throwing several different brands of braid. Iwas wondering if I'm missing the boat on better braided lines. Thanks in advance for everybody's input
Stratos260
I've always used Power Pro 50 for frogs and arig. I don't know if there may be better braids out there but you would be hard pressed to find anything stronger. I straightened two heavy wire hooks with it on an arig over here on Martins Fork. The only issue I've had with Power Pro is the color fading so I'm interested to see the rest of the responses to see if there may be a braid out there that doesn't fade. GlitterRocket
I also like the power pro. it will fuzz up on ya after it gets broken-in(which isn't a huge concern to me). also, there seems to be a significantly longer "break-in" period than the suffix 832. overall and for the money, the power pro is a good choice, IMO. I really like suffix832! my only complaint with the suffix is that it fades way to fast, but the suffix casts much better than the power pro strait outta the box. I really hate the thought of having to change $20 worth of line because it's faded instead of worn out. they really need to do a better job on the fading problem! last year I got some sunline FX2( frogin & flippin) I was skeptical at first, but over the course of a year it proved to be the best braided line I have used. the break-in time is reasonable, and just like every other braid, the more you throw it the better it gets. doesn't fuzz much at all( almost none) it has faded very little, and I threw it a lot! I only had to change line once on my hollow body frog rod, and that wasn't from the line being worn out or fading. the amount of line on the spool was pretty low due to reties(I retie a frog a lot), and it was time to clean and service the reel anyway so I respooled it. anyway, the sunline FX2 is good stuff!!! just be ready for some sticker shock. BulletDeuce
50 Lb P-Line Spectrex & 50 Lb Suffix 832 for me. For use on a spinning rod, Spiderwire Ultracast works great for working smaller baits.

JoeP
50lb power pro slick for casting rods, 12lb Nanofil for spinning rod. I used to use 65lb power pro on my casting rods but with a frog I was spooling my reel on every cast so I dropped down to 50 so I can get more line on the spool. flipperjig
i use 65lb power pro on my rig rods... 20lb diawa samuri for topwaters... 14lb stren sonic braid for shakey heads with a fluro leader.... no problems here!!! as for you guys that use braid that fades out just use a dye marker like blue or something dark and color your line....even makes it smell like garlic!!!!!! sometimes i just use a black magic marker to color the line 3 or 4 ft up from my bait but like the dye markers better.. Great idea! I just started using braid for topwater last year. I have a small boat so I'm usually limited in the amount of rods I can take with me. I use a spinning outfit with 10lb Power Pro for all of my topwater plugs and also use it for shaky head and other finesse techniques by adding a fluoro leader. The braid gives me everything I want for topwater. It will cast a small plug a mile and the no stretch makes walking the dog effortless. With braid I can walk a Rico like a spook. I tried it with mono and I had to work really hard to get it to walk at all. If you don't already give braid a try for your topwaters. country
braid will trash your reels in winter time due to freezing and jamming the reel, leading to the paw gear damaged
