Reels for Finesse

Try the pinnacle reel that wal mart sells, its about 50 bucks & works pretty good with the lighter stuff. The rod you throw that stuff on is more important than the reel, tho. Id go with a med action fast or extra fast tip to throw those smaller baits, or just use a spinning outfit, thats what i use mostly.

just wondering if any of you fellers knew of a good reel under $100.00 (baitcaster) that would easliy cast baits in the 3/16, 1/4 range?

I use my Pflueger Trion Baitcasters for most everything. They are my favorite reel... I dont think I would trade them for a Curado or any other high dollar reel. I can toss 1/4 and 3/16 weighted lures with ease, teamed with the Shimano Clarus 6'10 MH rod. The last one I got was for around 60 bucks. I got another a few years ago for 30 used and it is still in service!! :headbang:

Agreed... finesse is going to be more about the rod than the reel. For finesse, you really should consider spinning equipment.

I have not fished with one, but in that price range I'd have to consider the Shimano Caenan. I did have a reel in recently that I thought was a very nice, well built little reel... it was a BPS Prolite Finesse. Unfortunately they are no longer made, but I've seen them on eBay for $50

Thanks for the input guys, I've got a pfluegar echelon on there now but it's about 4 years old and on it's last leg haha, I think the rod I'm using will be okay, perhaps I should have been more specific, I'm not really looking for a finesse set up per se' I'm just looking for a reel that I can throw the lighter stuff on I.E. bitsy bug jigs in the 3/16 1/4 ounce range, t-rigged worms 6 inches or so with small weight. What has me doing this is that I've taken up the bigger lure better fish mentality the past 2 years or so and my catch rate has went significantly down hill since then, I know there are times when bigger stuff is better but the ole' 6" worms, and bitsy bug jig n pig combos used to at least get me in the fish, I used to be able to catch at least 5-10 on any given time out even on a horrible day but since I've went to bigger baits all the time my catch rate has suffered so I'm aiming to get back to my fishing roots if you will ;)

I have a Team Daiwa TD Pro (the graphite/black reel) that I use for 1/4-3/8 jigs and can sling them outta sight on a 7' 3" rod. Dont trust Daiwas dependability and generally only buy Shimanos, but got talked into this one because they have a reputation for casting light baits well, and it has performed alright for a year.
