Stratos260
I was just wondering what everyones favorite baits were by season. For the winter I don't think you can beat a jig and pork frog. For spring I like jerkbaits, hard or soft, early and Carolina rigged lizards when they move up on the flats later. In the summer I like fishing at night with Senkos and dark colored platic worms. In the fall I go back to my jerkbaits and jigs. What are your favorites by season? BassinHomer
Winter I have to go with a 4" shakey head worm and a small jig, spring would be a shakey head and a spinnerbait, early summer would be a flatside crankbait and a beaver bait, summer would be a deep diver and a big worm and fall would prbably be another crank and a super fluke. Stratos260
I've noticed that some of you use a float and fly for winter fishing. I've used them for white bass in the spring on the French Broad or crappie but I've never used one for bass fishing. Do you just fish them with a plain old bobber or do you fish them with a slip float of some kind so you can get them deeper?
JIGnJ()N
I've noticed that some of you use a float and fly for winter fishing. I've used them for white bass in the spring on the French Broad or crappie but I've never used one for bass fishing. Do you just fish them with a plain old bobber or do you fish them with a slip float of some kind so you can get them deeper? 8' to 10' rod. I use a Bob's Bobber (weighted) so the bobber will lay over on it's side if a big smallie comes up from underneath without pulling the float down. Set the depth according to where the fish are hanging. I usually start out 10' to 12' ft deep. Cast to your target, let the bobber set for a minute, then start slowly twitching/dancing the bobber back to the boat. Takes a little getting used to casting, but it's a Great Winter Time technique! Here's a Link.

I know everyone has their own favorite lures and techniques but being able to see what everyone else uses at different times of the year might be useful if you're ever stumped and not sure what to do.
