Terry Battisti
Hi All, My name is Terry Battisti and I'm considering moving to the Eastern, TN area (Knoxville) in about a year. I was interested in finding out about lakes in the area; which ones are best, if you had it your way which one would you live on, what tournament organizations/clubs are in the area, etc. I currently live in Idaho Falls, Idaho and have spent a little time in the Knoxville area for work. I love the area but have a lot of questions. Thanks for the help and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and also have a Happy New Year. Sincerely, Terry

BassinHomer
Welcome aborad, Tn is a great place to live. I fish Loudon mostly but If I could choose any lake to live on it would probably be Cherokee. Do some research on here I believe there is a thread somewhere on this site for clubs. Terry Battisti
Thanks for the welcome Snoot and TBW. I look forward to learning more about the area and really look forward to moving there. Terry
Jon
Welcome! If it were me and I was working in K-town, I would live to the South off I75. Watts Bar, Louden, Tellico, and upper Chick all within an hour. To the Northeast with Douglas, Cherokee, Louden, and Norris within an hour would be good as well... Terry Battisti
Thanks Ron! I'd actually be working in Oak Ridge. I'm leaning towards buying a house or property on the water but I don't want to buy on a dead sea or a place overrun with water turds. :-) If that's even possible. Thanks again! Triton196
Welcome to the site. I'm sure everyone here will have there opinion of which lake would be best to live on. My preference would be Douglas there's some very good fishing there and not many "water turds" except around summer holidays. There are some very good tx. clubs to chose from here in East Tennessee. When do you plan on moving here?

Terry Battisti
R91. I plan on moving there in 12-18 months, when my daughter gets out of high school. I've been out of the TX fishing scene for about 5 years due to the kids' sports and am looking forward to getting back on the water in that capacity. I'm pretty tired of Idaho winters and tired of the fact all we have here (for the most part) is smallies. Don't get me wrong, I love the bronze fish but there are times I wish I could target green fish too. Thanks for the heads-up on Douglass. I'll check it out for sure! bronzebackhuntr
Speaking of smallies, those are some nice looking footballs you are holding in that pic there. If I had a choice of lakes in the area to live on it would be Douglas w/o question. Amazing population of LM in there and it is turning into a pretty darn good smallie lake too. Anyway, welcome to the site and make yourself at home.
Terry Battisti
Thanks BBH. Yeah, they're a couple of nice Snake River fish. 4-15 and 5-1 caught a couple years ago. So, three of you for Douglass....I'll check it out for sure. It's still a long way off but it never hurts to do your homework. :-) Thanks again, Terry
Mountainman
Howdy Terry & welcome to the site! Im a little farther north & east of where your going to be, but as far as lakes in NE Tn, you just cant go wrong. I havent spent much time on the Knxville area lakes, but I do pretty well on Cherokee & Douglas. Stiil, within an hour you can be on Holston, Boone, all the Knox area lakes. Douglas & Cherokee both are great lakes. Feel free to holler at me if there is any info you need.
Tracker1861
Terry, chaulk up another vote for Douglas Lake. IMO, you cannot go wrong with having a place on that lake and it puts you very close to all the waters around East TN (within an hour to hour and a half either way). Douglas has some huge green fish in it, you just have to weed through the smaller ones to find them. And also it is getting it's share of brown fish on it as well. BTW, welcome to the site.........glad you joined up and looking forward to your interaction on the site soon. You will find that there's a great group of folks on here willing to help anyway they can.
