Best Ram Mount

Recommended Posts

Just received my new hds-9 today and was wondering what some of u guys might use as the best ram mount. I was looking at the Balzout and the Ram mount to mount at the consol. Ive read good and bad on both of them. Just wondering if any of u guys had any experience with either. Thanks in advance.

I've got both currently. They both have pros & cons. RAMs are 110% adjustable to any position, but will wear to the point that they won't tighten up. Ballzout is awesomely sturdy & won't ever wear out, but you're limited somewhat in adjustability.

My .02: the Ballzout is a better mount.

I have a ram mount for my iPad mini, and in all honesty if it wasn't for the fact that the iPad itself sits perfectly on my dash when it's in the mount, it'd move all over the place and I generally have to tighten it down after every trip. I'd go with ballzout

Guys thanks for info. I've read that the balzout must be pretty level surface for them to work. My ranger is kinda got a slope to it where I'd mount it. Do they make a shim or leveling bracket to get them level

I bought the Balzout on Andy's advice and I've not regretted it at all.  Very well made and sturdy.  I have mine at the console but I turn it towards the front while I'm fishing.  It isn't as easy to adjust as the RAM but it does what I want it to.  Where I move mine constantly I put a touch of lithium grease on the steel balls at the joints and it works smoother.
