welcome aboard!

yep, summer is a tuff time for fishing, kind alike the dead of winter.  it's slow and sometimes painful.  there are fish to be caught tho'.  if you give us an idea of where you've been fishing and how it'll help us give you some ideas on adjustments.

I'll take the dead of winter 1,000 to 1 over this summer time crap!

I am new to fishing the east TN area and so far have not done to well. Nothing over 2Lbs. I know the fish are here but you use some advise on tactics.

I assume you’re fishing Watauga??? Focus on points, offshore humps, and laydowns right now. Little jig and a Ned rig will be good for smallmouth. Worm, lizard, or creature bait to rigged for largemouth. Either should work for spots. Also, crank a big plug like a 6xd or a dd22
