Google earth

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, glad i found this site! Getting back into bass fishing. I am stumped on something and can't find the answer. I have Lowrance gen 2 electronics. I want to be able to go back in history on Google earth and place pins and transfer them as waypoints on my graphs. I've heard yes it can be done and no it can't.

If it can I'd be willing to pay for lessons. I don't get much fishing time and trying to optimize what little time I have.

thanks!

You'd have to have a link to a search capability that would enable you to retrieve then display archived data.  The microprocessor on your Lowrance units is certainly robust enuff to do this.  I just don't know if there is code embedded in the unit to allow you to do this.  Maybe a call to the Lowrance customer service people will help you???

As for pinning and registering WPs, there is a manual entry mode for these.  You can also add/transfer them using an SD card.  May require you to store them in an intermediate medium (like iCloud).  Not hard.  You'll find how-to info on the Lowrance site.  There are prob 100s of You-toobs on how to do this if you're a visual learner.

I use Google earth to get the Long/Lat  numbers and the manually enter them into a free program called EasyGPS. Once entered into that I can download them to an SD card and import them into my HDS Gen2 or 3. If its just one or two you can manually enter them into the HDS2 or 3. Hope this helps...
