Youth weekend hunt with my daughter...gotta brad somewhere

I know most of you all are in Tennessee and your deer season is already underway. Here in VA this past weekend was youth weekend. After i woke up sunday from fishing the TNBF site tx my daughter and I loaded up her gear and went on the mountain for her first real hunt......AND LET ME TELL YOU, it was a hunt to remember. We got in our stand (2 man ladder stand) at about 15 after 4, we set about 2 hours and only saw one grey squirrel and one chipmunk. She leans over and says "dad i think we got here to early" I respond with "maybe just a little bit.....deer, deer, Kaylee there's a deer walking right towards us." We try to get positioned where she can get a shot, but we got busted. So we regrouped and made an adjustment and got settled back in. About 10 minutes of silence pass, and i look over where the first deer was standing when it busted us....There stood 2 deer, feeding right towards us.I nudge her and we start trying to get on them, but they're behind us. As we moved around to get a shot, i see two more come over the hill where the others came from. So now we have 4 sets of eyes on us, all within 30 yards, and we are still trying to move around. Well she managed to finally find the deer in her scope, by this time the deer are already nervous, and i expected them to bust us again, as the closest deer (the one she was aiming at) starts to turn and bolt she shot. The deer bowed up and took off. I looked over at my daughter and she was smiling ear to ear. i smile and said "I think you hit it, we need to find blood before we loose light." She responded "I know i hit it, i heard her crash." So i climbed down and went to find blood....i didn't find any blood for about 10 yards, all i was going on was the ruffled leaves. Then i found a speck of blood about the size of a nail trimming. I Brought her to the spot i found blood to learn a little about tracking. We found a few more spots of blood, and then found the doe, maybe 80-90 yards from where she shot! Now at this point, excited was an understatement for the both of us, so i took a picture or 2 and told her "now the work begins" So we field dressed the deer, and started dragging it to the road. Once we got to the road we left the deer and gear there and started walking to the truck. When we got to the truck there were 3 more deer feeding there. I think i can safely say that this was a successful hunt. I know its a lot to read, but i had to brag somewhere.....Also, if someone could either tell me how to get the picture to upload to the post or let me send it to you and upload it for me i would greatly appreciate it!

Awesome story man & congrats to her on her 1st of hopefully many more. Nothing more fulfilling than getting youth turned on to the outdoors. Send me your pic & I'll get it uploaded for you

Thanks, i sent you a text with the picture. I've had her fishing for about 4 years, and she has been on a few evening sits with me and several squirrel hunts. Yesterday was her first trip pulling the trigger though.

She's got the bug now. If you don't take her and let her shoot, you'll be number 1 on her hit list instead of the deer😄

NO KIDDING!!!! We were at the walk in cooler getting that one hung and cleaned up and she asked me if i would take her back next Saturday for opening day of archery and let her try to down one with the crossbow!

Awesome hunt for the young lady. Congrats on harvesting her first deer. Your a better man than me, I would have taken a nap in my stand after fishing Saturday Night. Thanks for sharing.

Believe me, after dressing, dragging, and hanging that deer in the walk in (only slept 5 hours between tournament and this) i was beat. Honestly, thought real hard about calling in this morning!
