NobbyNobbs
Very sad.. Be careful folks.. wear those PFD's. Especially in colder and fast moving water conditions.
31Airborne
Think about this for just a second - the force of the water flow caused the boat to be sucked thru the dam. There are times when you just have to concede to Mother Nature. No fish out there is worth a life. Praying for those families.
rusty50576
This is the second year in a row a boat has went over the dam and drowned multiple people. They should try a barrier like this....
SteveHTN
Yeah Rusty, just about all dams I’ve seen, outside of the TVA system, have restricted access near the dam. I’m not sure why Tva doesn’t. Certainly would make sense
trackertxw175
Prayers for the families. Looking at that barrier, i'm not sure that something like that would work, given the volume and size of some of the trees going down the Tennessee River

Maybe they could have grabbed onto a logjam that was stuck on the barrier

Probably looks like a giant Indian dugout migration right now.
trackertxw175
A few years ago, i went to the campground below the old steamplant on the upper end of Cherokee after the remnant of a hurricane dumped days of rain on us. If you have ever been there in the parking lot, there was a set of steps on the left that went up to a big field which was higher than the parking lot. The view from up there was something to see. At the spot across from the transformer substation next to the bridge that ain't, 20'-30' trees were being pinned against the pilings. For a fraction of a second, the water rose over the trees 15'. Then, a tree would crash into them rootball first. They were splinters in a second. Then the entire process started again. Trees, sheds, furniture, trash, shoes and everything else was rolling down river. Mostly trees. Big ones. 22 hours ago, rusty50576 said: There must be some reason. According to one news article, there was a camera that caught an image of them still in the boat, as it went over. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.jacksonsun.com/amp/4880714002 this is the article from the Jackson Sun
