Florocarbon for spinning reel

Ive been using P-line tactical this winter & it is working out well so far, about 5 trips with it throwing small baits. One tip that will help you, take your spinning rods, cut the bait off & let about half or so of your line out as you idle or troll along. The faster you go the more tension you put on the line & the better it packs on the spool & it also takes the twist out. Do this once a day, at the beginning or end & it will help alot.

I wish I would have done that this weekend. My spinning reel gave me a fit al day Saturday then finally just blow up on me when I went to cast. It was and still is a mess. I’ll have to re-spool it now. I’ll remember this next time. Thanks for the info BB.

I hang my spools on a nail when I respool line. For the most part,I have found that have the line come off the bottom of the spool for spinning and off the top for baitcast. Think I have only had one brand of line that was the opposite. To check to be sure it's spooling correctly, wind three or four times and then move rod tip towards the spool. If it twists the line, flip the spool over. It will loop while you spool it if you have the spool turned the wrong way.

Might sound funny but maybe you're  spooling on to much line.  I use copolymer mostly but to much of any on spinning reels will cause problems.  I leave about 1/8 in from lip of spool. This helps a lot with tangles, wind knots etc etc. This varies with size of reel but not filling the spool completely might help.

Forgot to add that my spinning rods are mostly braid to leader. I have my tightline rod spooled all the way with 6lb fluorocarbon and a spare spool for another rod all the way with 8lb mono for clear water topwater. Everything else is braid with an Alberto knot to the leader.

^ this. Braid to leader has always been my preference on spinning rods. No line twist issues at all.
