NobbyNobbs
Anyone have any experience with the new Garmin trolling motors? I've heard it compared to the Ultrex but no absolutely nothing about them. I recently looked at a Caymus CX20 equipped with the Garmin system. thoughts? trackertxw175
If you watch the MLF events where the participants are "mic'ed up", you can definitely hear some of the brands make a whiny noise. Don't remember what brands, but can really hear it on some boats. May just be a case where one of the same brand is louder than another of the same brand. I was watching some bassresource videos comparing TM's... they had underwater recordings of noise. Garmin Force was the quietest of the bunch... Surprisingly the Minn Kota was the loudest underwater. trackertxw175
Seems to me, that the Lowrance Ghost was one I heard making a lot of whining noise while watching a few MLF episodes.
BulletDeuce
Jake Whitaker was running the Lowrance Ghost last year on Chickamauga, it sounded like a cat dying everytime he touched the foot pedal.
SteveHTN
Aren’t the Force and Ghost both 100% electric? The Ultrexx is still cable steer, with electric assist. Maybe I’m old fashioned and paranoid, but I personally would want that cable, in case the turning motor gave out.
NobbyNobbs
Became a mute point in the end.. I almost pulled the trigger on a Caymus CX20 equipped fully with Garmin. but the terms weren't to my liking so walked away.. Decided to just upgrade my Triton a bit. And after all was said and done with research I think I will stick with Motorguide.

I’d like to see them get some proven reliability before I went dumping $3k.
