Spinnerbaits

Just wondering what you all prefer on here and how you fish them? I actually caught my first fish on a spinnerbait yesterday. Never really fished with them and didn't seem to have the patience. haha. But decided I would learn yesterday and it was the only thing I fished with. Caught 2 good sized LM and let a monster get off. Lost him right at the boat...probably a 4 or 5 pounder :smash:

I used a terminator chartreuse and white spinner with tandem blades and just straight cranked it.

What kinds do you guys like and how do you fish them? I heard you can add all sorts of jerks, rips and pauses and I was just curious as to what everyone else likes to do and what you've had success with.

i have caught more on a chatterbait than a spinnerbait. my youngest son on the other hand can outfish my oldest and i using a spinnerbait and slow roll/ drag hop like a jig. i get hung every time i try it. he even flips it in trees and yanks them out with it. i can do it with a jig , just not a blade. sure its just a confidence thing

Sounds like you've got it. You just have to experiment and see what the fish want. Somedays you have to steady reel it, sometimes burn it just under the surface, and somedays you have to slow roll it off of the bottom barely geting the blades to spin. I love a spinnerbait. I will always have one tied on and I will always throw a spinnerbait. Terminators are a good spinnerbait, they've got good quality blades and hooks on them.

Good Luck and keep us posted on how the spinnerbait works out for ya.

I almost always have one laying on the front deck this time of year.....anytime I come across isolated cover I work it to death....in, over, and around any stickups, laydowns, or ambush spots made from rock formations....

Work stuff over good with it....theres been many times that I get bit on my 5th or 6th cast to the same cover.

Vary your retrieve....slow roll it off the bottom....burn it.....stop and start it.....yo-yo it....

It's probably one of my favorite baits when they are biting it....it has always produced quality fish for me.

Theres a ton of ways to correctly fish a spinnerbait. LIke SJK said, dont be afraid to vary your retrieve. Ive got a SB tied on all year long. I do best with a slower retrieve, even this time of year. I make my own, but a standard 3/8 with double willows is by far my most productive.

I love to throw a blade, ive caught some pigs on that thing. I also like a terminator, i have about 30 of them. I like to vary the retrieve alot, usually burning it near brush or rock & then stop it. You can get a rod took outta your hands real quick that way.:thumbsup2:
