Spawns

Recommended Posts

Well last year just when most of the big ladies locked up on the beds on our area lakes we had the Flood of the century in this area. This year the big females we just going on or already on bed and we have the second biggest flood of the century here locally. That is two years with spawns destroyed in this area. That should mean in about three years we might run out of Bass in this area becuase of two lost spawns. Fishings gonna get tough around here for a while next couple years................:wacko::wacko::wacko:

That really sucks that is also something I have thought about here on cherokee. The bass go on the bed before they raise the lake to full pool and then after they lay out and stuff they raise the lake and it puts the bed fish out into like 15 foot of water does this not hurt the fishing I thought that bass had to spawn in shallow water.

Smallmouths will spawn early and in 55-58 degree water and up to 12 feet deep with very good success. Sorts will spawn close to time Smallies do. Largies on the other hand want water less the 5 feet deep, 60 + water temps and no current. Your smallies up that way probably spawn and eggs hatch before they begin raising the lakes for the most part but your Spots and largies might struggle some. Now if you lucky like we are on Old Hickory we have two plants that have warm water discharges. A Steam Plant and E.I Dupont and tha bass that live around those discharges are retarded for the most part and don't know we have 4 different seasons and I ahve seem big hawg females spawning in the dead of winter in that 62-65 degree discharge water. I think that might be our only salvation for bass in the next couple years is those bass that spawn in winter.
