SilverFox
How often do you guys put new line on your reels? Do you put all new line on or do you just top layer the stuff you never use? I use to put new line all the way... I just started putting it on over old line. Never could find a knot that I trusted. I started using the uni knot and it seems to be the bomb. Triton196
I strip off about half the spool and change about twice a year. Uni knot is the way to go.
Jon
Some reels I'll respool 3 times a year and some only get once every 2 or 3 years. I have allot reels and some I don't use much and they stay in a dark rod box or garage and its cool in temp. Those are the keys to keeping line fresh. nitro175
once or twice a year it depends on how much I use them and what kinda crazy ideas that I get about whether I should be using this line or that line
trackertxw175
the lighter outfits 6-8 lb rigs i change about once a month maybe 20-25 outings. the heavier stuff on baitcaster every other month. this doesn't include what i cut off every trip maybe a foot or so depending on how rough the cover is. Tracker1861
Usually the 8lb stuff on any spinning reel gets it about every 4-5 fishing trips. The rest on my baitcasters get changed about an average of 4 times a year. I have been using the uni knot for years, and only about a half of a spool at a time. SilverFox
I hate changing line... 5 down, 3 to go. I need to rig me up a drill to speed things up.
softbaitmaker
Back when I competed in major events I would spool up every two weeks. Now I spool once a month but I short spool with uni-knot. I use a rechargable drill to strip reels and I will strip 5 reels at a time with drill. Can re-spool 10 rods in an hour.

jdrico
Usually 7 or 8 times a year depending on use. I usually break off enough to respool every month or so. I use the arbor knot.
Jamie De Vera
i re-spool about 4-5 times a yr and only strip off half the reel... that is for everything.. now if i am trying new line i strip off the whole reel.. of course that was when i was going out every other weekend and now i just let them sit until i can get back out..
