ducksooner Posted July 10, 2011 Report Share Posted July 10, 2011 i have a mariner 80 hp dont know the year but its inline with 4 spark plugs and the cover is gray with ogr pin strips above and belowe the name.. it would run at 1st but idle way to high but would plane out with just one person it the boat .. now i had a new trottle cable and water pump fuel pump and lower oil changed and it will start and run and warm up but once i gave it gas it will die... to get it to idle into the boat line i have to out the warm up trottle up half way and kick it gear and them drop the warm up back down and then when i try to gave it more gas it dies... it doesnt act like its missing or anything like that.... plz help if you can i have but 500 bucks into this motor and it should have fixed the motor.. I'm not expert but that's what I'm going to say too, I had a similar issue I think, it would run and idle but when I gave it throttle it would die, mine turned out to be the fuel line, I had a hole somewhere in my line and the bulb wouldn't stay primed and it was getting too much air, might want to check that out and the age of the fuel line doesn't matter because the one I was having problems with was suppossedly brand new Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ducksooner Posted July 10, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 10, 2011 thanks yall ill check into that.... i have to the guy that fixed working on the trottle box cause its shocked me the other night so he as the boat at his house..... he alright cleaned the carbs and let them soak over night he told me.... but illl check the fuel line...
