softbaitmaker
Just curious but how many of ya;ll fish with spinning rods with Tennessee handles on them?
ottwaybass
I don't buy any without a TN handle anymore. I have 5 and I love them. The only one that I use anymore that does not have a TN handle is an old BPS extreme rod that the handle comes together around the reel to almost form a TN handle. I really like the way they feel and you can perfectly balance any reel on one.

SilverFox
Nope... don't use that.
ottwaybass
If you get a chance, you may want to give one a whirl. Especially if it's properly balanced.
SilverFox
I can't catch any fish on the stuff I have now... no need to spend any more money to just take up space in the boat.
Mayle
I use them. I have two of the old G3 flat black G-Lommis 6'6 poles that I fish small jigs with that has the TN handle.

softbaitmaker
never even heard of one untill now, but that answers ALOT of questions, thanks for the post Softy I figured you would like to learn a little bit about them and how folks thought about them. They have a great feel and back years ago when I fished Spinning rods I didn't have anything but Tennessee Handles.

BassinHomer
well let's talk some about balancing, when you guys hear balanced what comes to mind, what do you look for in a rod that is balanced?
Guest
a well balanced rod should feel as its going to leap from your hand when you hold it.....

What is it about the higher end gear that makes it so much better than the mid range stuff? My most expensive combo's are about $200 and I really don't feel like I can justify spending much more than that because I just don't get to fish that much. Is it the sensitivity, weight, balance? I'm just curious because I have never used any high end gear and I would like to know what the difference is.

Stratos260
Snoot I guess I wanted to know what the biggest difference you noticed when you bought that first good outfit. I've looked at the Steez and G Loomis rods and wondered how much better they would be than my Quantum and BPS brand stuff. I hope my post didn't come off as argumentative. I was just curious about what the advantages are.
Guest
i have never fished a GLoomis or a Steeze....i have fished a Shimano Stella....very good reel but i didnt care that much to par $500 -$600 for a reel......
RboatlessNomore
I love my tm handles. I went with ceramic instead of cork. As far as high end equipment goes, the more sensitive the rod the more fish you will feel. The more fish you feel pick up your lure, the more fish you will pick up and get to feel in your hand. Expensive reels are easier to use than cheap ones. So if you don't want or can't spend a small fortune, I would buy high end rods and then upgade reels as money allows. I love my custom rods, and I.also love my abu garcia veritas rod. Call Snoot for a custom or your local fishing store for the veritas. I'm not sure on the Veritas but I've got a Vendetta and LOVE it, the Veritas was noticably lighter so I would say it's bad arse as well Edited July 24, 2011 by TheBassWhisperer
