Wiseguy909
Ok Fellas, here's a question for you guys. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I fish a Sammy alot and one my buddies swears by the Super Spook. I was gonna see what everybody's personal preference is and also is any the topwaters with the walk-the-dog type action that are easier to throw than others? Triton196
IMO you can't beat a super spook. I prefer to Run the Dog with it. Just ask Charger.
brnbasstn
SUPER SPOOK!!!!!!!
trackertxw175
i like the manns spit-n-chug and the pop-r , but when fishing the river i like to use spook or jumping minnow
Fishur5
I like them both but change out the hooks for Mustad triple grip so the fish don't shake'em off. Edited August 23, 2011 by Fishur5
SPOOKMAN
Super Spooks for open water smallies and spook jr. for shallow largemouths. Sammys are a quieter version of the spook.
smokepurple
Spooks, they're cheaper... I love them in the river (the jr.'s) as well.
Mountainman
Usually, I prefer the spook, but as mentioned, due mostly to cost.
Mayle
I like the spook much better over the sammy. Here latley all I throw is the P-70 popR. That is my all time favorite top water bait...HANDS DOWN!
trackertxw175
this color has been my top producer so far this year
31Airborne
+1 for spook. For me, I can manage the cadence much easier w/ the spook. Sammies are good looking baits and I know they catch fish, but my confidence is in the spook.
goinsfishin
i like the super spook jr. i throw that most but i like the super spook from time to time. I also think the spooks are easier to work. I just can't get it figured out with the sammy
brownfish03
Im with Mayle on the P70's....only problem I have with them is theft! Lost around 7 of the original ones to a truck break in a few years back...man did that hurt. I still have 4 or 5 of the old ones and they get alot of action. If you look on ebay, Ive seen them go for nearly $100 a plug....thankfully, I bought mine up long ago before they got popular and didnt break the bank. The new ones are junk IMO! Your right about the new ones being junk! I have only two orignal old P70's left and I have bought 4 of the new ones and they defently do not have the same action. I have caught fish off the new one but nothing like the old school P70 pop-R.

brwnbass
Spook, hands down. I have a couple of those rapala skitter walk baits & they are hard to work very fast. I bought a gunfish last year & couldnt get it to work right either so i got rid of it.
CrX970
In my opinion the sammy is hard to beat on clear water lakes or calm (glass slick) water. When fish are schooling or running in wolf packs I'll use a super spook. I find that a popper works best in slight chop or when the bass are being lazy because you work it at any speed you need to. And where I fish a lot of clear water natural shad patterns always produce the best.

softbaitmaker
I prefer the Super Spook jr.s hands down for walking the dog. I only use two colors, For sunny days it's the Solid Chrome salt water series with updated hooks and the other is the Clear for cloudy or overcast days. I have about 5 solid Chrome Sammy's in the 100 and the 115 series and I catch fish on them but I don't try and walk the dog with them because they are tail weighted and tail wants to stay down. I use them as a twitch bait and jerk type style of fishing. I love using a spook Jr with a front runner in front of it. Alot of times I will catch two fish at once when the strikes come...... NiceGuy
Anyone ever throw a big pencil popper??????
bronzebackhuntr
My favorite in any topwater is the One knocker spook. I also use the super spook jr, super spook, and the swayback spook with good success. Haven't tried the rattling spook yet. Anyone that has ever fished with me knows that I LOVE throwing topwater.
